Description
Le metamorfosi
Victorians had a fascination with natural history, butterflies were undoubtedly the most popular and holding deep and powerful symbolism. Emblems of the soul, ephemerality, transformation and rebirth.
These wearable treasures from the Victorian era was inspired by the ethereal butterfly and its powerful meaning translated into a rare pair of earrings of precious metal, turquoise rubies and pearls.
The butterflies here are positioned sideways, their wings and body studded pearls and turquoises, tiny rubies as eyes.
Captured at a moment in time, they seem to project an equanimous serenity about to leave or resting on leaves. Three parts articulated strarting with the first element a gold half sphere which suspends the romantic butterfly, and third element a bigger gold sphere empty and light, dangling at every movement.
Beautifully constructed in 14 Kt yellow gold and silver, every detail is exquisite and a lovely patina given by time.
very good overall condition, wear consistent with age.
