Very popular during the 18th century when the fashion for flower design was captured in miniature in colorful and delicate openwork setting. Giardinetti rings, charming love tokens exchanged between couples or friends, like beautiful bouquet of flowers for someone much admired.
These colourful floral gemstone depictions were love tokens to be exchanged with lovers and friends, sometimes fluid and asymmetrical, sometimes even and balanced. Representing a small piece of history and art is this romantic, rare, diamond Giardinetti ring from late Georgian era.
This lovely example of the giardinetti ring features an asymmetric spray of flowers and buds rendered in silver over a gold shank.
Set with 4 antique table cut diamonds and 6 rose cut diamonds, each foiled and closed back, each to represent a meaningful flower or flower bud.
Crafted in artful composition in the light delicate Rococo design echoing the floral patterns of fashionable flowers, with lovely details and romantic patina for the passing of time. Culminating into a languid shank, composed of two flowers one per side starting from each shoulder.
Artfully hand crafted in 14/15 Kt yellow gold and silver, acid tested.
Very good overall condition, wear consistent with use and age.
